WorldFAIR Conversations: Cross-Domain Interoperability and Challenges

Leah McEwen (Cornell University, Chemistry), Iseult Lynch (Universtity of Birmingham, Nanomaterials), Kerstin Lehnert (Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, Geochemistry) and Beth Knazook (Digital Repository of Ireland, Cultural Heritage) took some time during IDW2023 this past October 2023 in Salzburg to discuss common challenges across their fields, how the WorldFAIR project and the Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework works to resolve them (and even identify new ones), and the importance of events such as IDW and the RDA Plenary for addressing these challenges and discussing them amongst such a diverse and knowledgeable community.

Our experts touch on topics such as collections, samples, digital and physical objects, records keeping, persistent identifiers, metadata, reusability, gathering use cases and much more, identifying common threads among ChemistryNanomaterialsGeochemistry and Cultural Heritage.
